Spanish Challenges for the Festive Season

P6/7 have been working collaboratively in Spanish. They have been issued with 3 challenges and have to plan their time, resources and support each other to make sure their team meets the success criteria for each task by the designated deadline. They are enjoying the challenge of this and are creating texts and a performance to share with our link school in Murcia, Spain. Head over to the International Education blog to see a slide show of them hard at work today.

Halloween Fun 2009

Here are just 2 of the pumpkins we carved for our Halloween celebrations.  We carried out a risk assessment and found a safe place for them to be displayed for our Halloween disco.  We thought they looked great and were really proud of them.  Have a look at the photos on our main school blog page to see our fantastic costumes.

Meeting with author Nick Hesketh

Today our Primary 6/7 pupils used the video conferencing tool within GLOW to meet with author Nick Hesketh. They linked with several other schools round Scotland to learn more about conflict and characterisation. At the end of the session they were set a challenge by Nick. This was enjoyable way to learn and allows the children access to experts in their field that would not normally be possible. They will post work completed on the shared national Writer's Workshop glow group and are already looking forward to their follow-up session later in the month.

Training with St. Mirren F.C. Staff

Our primary 6/7 pupils were kept on their toes today by staff from St. Mirren football club. They will be working with our pupils for 12 weeks and helping the boys and girls to brush up on their football skills. Maybe we'll see a budding star from our school in a few years time?
